DETAIL

Day 1 : Antananarivo – Antsiranana
Transfer to the airport then catch the flight to Antsiranana. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel to check in. Afternoon drive to the three famous bays of Antsiranana. It’s a wild , harsh but starkly beautiful environment. On the way, stop at Ramena village. Drive back to the city of Antsiranana in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 : Antsiranana – Amber Mountain
After breakfast, drive to Joffre Ville. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Start to explore the Amber Mountain national park. This park is home for 25 species of mammals among of them are native from the northern part of Madagascar. 75 different species of birds exist also in this area. Check the "crowned lemur" or the "brookesia" chameleon and more. Picnic lunch in the park. Late afternoon, drive back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 : Amber Mountain – Ankarana
Start driving South in the morning. After few hours, leave the main road to join a small offroad track. This is the way to the "Red Tsingy". Hidden in the bush, this is a unique scenery resulting from the erosion. Picnic lunch. After the visit, drive back to the national road and continue to Ankarana. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 : Ankarana
Visit of Ankarana National Park. The trail crosses the west side of the massif of Ankarana, from the view point of Ampasambazaha. It passes through the dry forest of baobabs and "Pachypodium" at the banks of the Ampondrabe river. The tour ends at the great gulf where the three rivers lose, the Ankerana. After heavy rain, the water vortex is spectacular. It is also the perfect track to meet lemurs and rare birds or reptiles. Picnic lunch inside the park. Drive back to the hotel late afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5 : Ankarana – Antsiranana - Antananarivo
Morning drive back to Antsiranana for about 3h drive and then to the airport. Fly to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6 : Antananarivo - Morondava - Kirindy
Transfer to the airport. Flight to Morondava. In Morondava, meet and and start to drive towards Kirindy. Pass through stunning scenery of baobabs including the famous "Baobab Avenue". Spend few minutes here and continue. Upon arrival at Kirindy, check in. Then out for a night walk. A good opportunity to learn more about night active lemurs like the smallest and fascinating "Mme Berthe mouse lemur" and more. After the visit, dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 7 : Kirindy - Morondava
Morning hike in Kirindy forest for more discovery. Meet the "Verreaux' sifaka" and more... With more chance, one can meet the "fosa", the biggest carnivorous of Madagascar. After the visit, lunch and drive back to Morondava. On the way, more pictures of baobabs and other scenery. Wait for sunset at "Baobab Avenue" before driving to Morondava. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8 : Morondava - Antananarivo
According to the flight schedule, possibility to have a trip by local pirogue in the mangroves in search of birds, visit of a small village. Then fly to Antananarivo. In Antananarivo, meet and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight

Day 9 : Antananarivo – Maroantsetra – Masoala
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for morning flight to Maroantsetra, gateway to the Masoala Peninsula great rainforest. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the port and embark in a boat for Masoala. Arriving at the hotel, check in. Afternoon excursion to Tampolo in search of some wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 10 : Masoala
Morning walk inside the Masoala national park. This is the most luxuriant forest of Madagascar with endemic species of wildlife including the "red ruffed lemur", "helmet vanga", … After the visit, back to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 11 : Masoala
From the morning, boat excursion to Nosy Mangabe. This small island offers the chance to meet some more species especially the amazing "leaf tailed gecko", birds and reptiles. Picnic lunch. Back to Masoala in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 12 : Masoala - Maroantsetra – Antananarivo
Morning boat transfer to Maroantsetra, then by car to the airport to catch the flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon visit of craft market in the city. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 13 : Antananarivo – Taolanaro – Berenty
Transfer to the airport. Fly to Taolanaro. Upon arrival, meet and depart for Berenty reserve at about 3 hours drive from coastal rainforest to the spiny desert. Stops along the way to view the unique baobab trees, rare "three-cornered palms" and funerary art of the Malagasy burial grounds. Afternoon and evening visits in the reserve. Meals and overnight.

Day 14 : Berenty
Day to spend in the reserve with walks along the wide, well swept paths. The "Lemur catta", better known as the "ring-tailed lemurs", are very friendly and seem pleased to pose for photographs. Be ready for surprise encounters with the beautiful sifaka lemur and other species including flying foxes, lizards, chameleons, the endangered radiated tortoise and dozens of species of rare birds. Dinner and overnight.

Day 15 : Berenty – Taolanaro
Time for visit to a small but comprehensive cultural museum at Berenty before driving back to the town of Taolanaro. Upon arrival, check in. Afternoon at leisure to admire the Libanona beach. Dinner and overnight.

Day 16 : Taolanaro - Antananarivo - Andasibe
Pick up from the hotel for transfer to the airport. Fly to Antananarivo. Arriving in Antananarivo, meet and start drive towards Andasibe. Upon arrival in Andasibe, check in at the hotel near the reserve. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Day 17 : Andasibe
Morning drive to Andasibe Mantadia national park. This very luxuriant forest which is about 1h from the village. 4h walk offers opportunity to meet endemic species like the rare bird called "pittalike ground roller" or endemic lemurs like the "diademed sifaka", reptiles, … Picnic lunch. After the visit, back to the hotel. Then afternoon visit at Vakona private reserve and get 'in touch' with those lemurs on a small island. Later, night walk in search of nocturnal species of lemurs, chameleons, frogs... Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 18 : Andasibe - Antananarivo
Morning hike at Andasibe Perinet National Park. This is the best place to meet the largest species of lemur, the "Indri Indri", ... birds, reptiles and many others. After the visit, drive back to Antananarivo. In Antananarivo, possibility to pass at the craft market before transfer to the airport for international flight.
