DETAILS
Day 1 : Antananarivo - Antsirabe
Meet at the airport, departure to Antsirabe. Stop at Ambatolampy to visit a workshop based on recycling aluminum, bronze for different kitchen utensils... Then, continue to Antsirabe. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2 : Antsirabe
After breakfast, take the road to the West for about 1h drive towards a small village. Leave the car and start a walk through villages of farmers and nice terraced fields. An occasion to get familiar with daily life of the local and enjoy the fresh air of the country side. Picnic lunch. End of the walk by the begining of the afternoon. Continue with the car and drive to Tritriva lake. A short walk around this legendary lake part of an ancient volcano crater which offers a stunning view on the surrounding. Then drive back to the town. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 : Antsirabe - Miandrivazo
After breakfast, head South-West for about 220 km of good road. Picnic lunch en route. Arrived in Miandrivazo, transfer to the hotel and evening free. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 : Miandrivazo - Masiakampy - Tsiribihina
After having the breakfast, drive to the small village of Masiakampy for about 1h30. Upon arrival, getting on board of a wooden pirogue and start paddling down the river. The navigation lasts 6 to 7 hours per day. Lunch on the river bank. The first day on the river, you will enjoy the beautiful landscape, people, villages, fishermen. Landing on the river bank late in the afternoon to spend the night on camping. Having the dinner under the moonlight and a sky full of stars.
Day 5 : Tsiribihina river
In the morning, paddling from the camp site to reach the beautiful waterfall of Anosin’ampela. A
place where you can swim and take a bath before continuing on the river. Passing through the Gorge of Bemaraha. You can see some lemurs, water birds, bats… lunch on the river bank. Dinner and overnight camping.
Day 6 : Tsiraraka - Belo/Tsiribihina - Bekopaka
Here in the village of Tsiraraka is where we leave the pirogues. An offroad vehicle will be waiting. Drive to Belo-Sur-Tsiribihina in the morning after crossing the Tsiribihina on a ferry boat. Then, in Belo lunch before continuing until Bekopaka (100 km of track). The rest of the day will be devoted to this long journey on track towards the Tsingy, hidden in the bush. At Bekopaka, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 7 : Small Tsingy and the Throat of Manambolo
In the morning, accompanied by a local guide, start your exploration of the Tsingy world. Initially, you embark on boats to visit the caves in the throat of the Manambolo and its stalactites. After that, continue to walk in the park to see the stalagmites, the beauty of magnificent limestone peaks, very sharp. Picnic lunch. The evening dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 : Grand Tsingy
Visit of the Great Tsingy. 17 km from the city of Bekopaka that you reach by car. Always accompanied by your guide and equipped with shoulder harnesses, explore the Tsingy, high of 30 to 50 m. Walkways and wooden bridges, well integrated into the landscape, will help you to continue more easily your visit to the area of Great Tsingy. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 9 : Bekopaka - Kirindy
Morning departure from Bekopaka to return to the starting point, passing at Belo then crossing the river by ferry in order to reach the Kirindy forest. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge. Later, go for a night walk of 2 hours in the dense and dry forest to search for nocturnal lemurs, nocturnal reptiles, owls and nightjars, etc.. If you feel lucky, you may see the famous "fosa". This is the largest carnivorous in Madagascar. Dinner and overnight at the forest camp.
Day 10 : Kirindy - Morondava
After breakfast, back in the forest to see 2 species of diurnal lemurs, birds, mammals and reptiles, and flora (and precious wood, medicinal plants). After this visit, leave Kirindy to regain the track. En route, stop at the Baobabs Alley which includes 3 species of the Menabe region, including the famous loversbaobab tree. After that, continue to Morondava. Upon arrival, check in, dinner and overnight at the hotel by the seaside.
Day 11 : Morondava - Belo/Mer
Morning transfer by boat to Belo/Mer. At Belo/Mer, transfert to the hotel. Day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 12 : Belo/Mer
Day at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 13 : Belo/Mer - Morondava - Antananarivo
Transfer by boat to Morondava then by car to the airport. Flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 14 : Antananarivo
Discovery of Antananarivo and its traditional market. Excursion to Ambohimanga at about 28 km North-West of the capital to visit the "Blue hill", classified World Heritage site. You go through many "tamboho", these old defensive wall, made of red earth. Later, dinner before transfer to the airport for international flight.
