The capital city offers different activities. In the center, among the main attractions is the very animated lower town with its narrow streets and avenue, local markets, monuments, the Anosy lake, ... The upper town apart from offering a panoramic view, teaches more about the origin of Madagascar by its historical places like the "palace of Manjakamiadana" and many others.
Further North, the "Ambohimanga royal palace" attracts most curiosity. After about 1h drive through the city, arrive in a peaceful country side. This place, listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, retains the traditional aspect of Merina kingdom, and Madagascar itself. This site is situated within a stunning landscape that reflects centuries of Malagasy history.
For those who are addicted to wildlife and nature, choose your way to the "Lemurs Park" or the "Croc Farm". These are small private reserves which deserve at least an hour visit each. The first is a botanical garden which holds few species of introduced lemurs, reptiles. The second one is a crocodile farm, where one can meet some reptiles and lemurs. If you like birds, check the "Tsarasaotra lake" or even the "Tsimbazaza Zoo" with many other animals.
